Is Protruding Vein On The Knee A Cause Of Concern?

I have a dimple which is very noticeable in the back of my left knee and it does not look cute at all. There is also a small vein that is there and it looks like its popping out. My family has a history of varicose is that what is causing the dimple and such?

Thank you for asking Healthcare majic.
My name is Dr Ehsan Ullah &
I have gone through your query.

your main concern is regarding

a dimple at the back of your right knee
&
a small vein in that region

you have mentioned also that
you have family history of varicose .

I list here some symptoms , just have a look at these

-Leg heaviness
-Pain or tenderness along the course of the vein
-Restless leg
-Night cramps
-Skin changes
-Exercise intolerance
-Burning sensation at that site
-Swelling

These are all signs of Varicose .

Some professions are associated or have risk of developing varicose specially where you have Standing job for long times...

in such cases ,
you need to consult your physician for clinical examination of the leg , assessment of associated risk factors for the development or further progress of such conditions and avoidance and also for management by life style modifications, prevention etc.

It can be some other pathology too
like
Baker cyst which is a benign swelling
arterial /venous aneurysms
thrombophilibitis etc

but your clinical picture and positive family history suggests as a varicose vein

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
