Is Pregnancy Prevented Despite Skipping Placebo Pills?

Hello, I took my birth control continuously last month so I skipped a period. It is now time for the next inactive week (which was actually sunday) and I decided to take the inactive pills. Even though I changed the schedule of my period and taking the pills by skipping my period last month, am I still protected during this placebo/inactive week? I had sex with my boyfriend sunday and got kind of scared because I wasn t sure if I was protected because I changed my schedule. Can I have sex during the placebo week (after skipping a period) and still be protected from pregnancy?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Whenever you skip the birth control pills or reschedule your intake, there is always a risk for becoming pregnant.
Hence, it is advised to continue with the pills, but to use other modes of contraception like condoms or spermicides during such time until you get your next periods.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
