Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Emergency Contraceptive Pill After Intercourse?

Hello, my last cycle was Oct 24. I haven't had intercourse for a whole yr until Saturday. I've had symptoms of my cycle coming. However, I haven't gotten it yet. This past Saturday Nov 26 I had unprotected sex, but the guy did not ejaculate in me. I too the Aftera pill later that evening, but still haven't gotten my cycle. I'm concerned about pregnancy. It still feels like it may come.

Hi,

You got last period on 24 October, did sex on 26 November. You did sex on completely safe period. During this time of period no ovum is released so no fertilization will occur. You took emergency contraceptive pill with in 24 hour and it is also highly effective in preventing pregnancy (95-98%). But it may cause delay in period by 1 to 2 weeks.

So do not worry if period will delay. If period will delay by more than 2 week then consult a gynecologist for examination. Meanwhile avoid stress, take healthy diet, drink plenty of water and do regular exercise.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
