Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Primolut N Pill?

To delay period, my wife took primolut n from 28th october to 31 st october three tablets a day for 4 days.My wife s possible date of menstruation was 30 th october.She stopped the tablet on 31st october.Till now ( 8th october) she has no period.Being worried,she did an FMU test on 6th october which shows a negative result.How long will it take to start a period after stopping primolut n?what should i do now?

Yes, pregnancy is possible despite of taking Primolut-N.

Primolut N (Norethisterone) is a synthetic hormone progesterone which is commonly prescribed to treat irregular menstrual periods, lack of menstrual bleeding, premenstrual syndrome, to prepone or postpone the periods.

However, it is not an effective contraceptive hence not used to prevent unwanted pregnancy. If you have sexual intercourse, you should use non-hormonal methods of contraception (e.g. barrier methods such as condoms or diaphragm) to prevent the unwanted pregnancy.

Withdrawal bleeding usually occurs within 3-7 days after stopping the Primolut-N pills.

So, in view of the above, there is a possibility of your wife being pregnant.
Kindly repeat the pregnancy test either on an early morning urine sample or do blood hCG test to confirm the pregnancy.
