Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Althea Pill?

Hi doctor,
I am about to start taking althea birth control pills for the first time and I have some questions about this.

1. Im not taking it on the first day of menses so i understand that we should use a barrier method for 7 days. What are the chances of getting pregnant if we have unprotected intercourse on day 8 of althea pills? Is the 7 day wait equivalent to taking the pills on the first day of menses?

2. I have an important event 3 months and I calculated the the 7 day pill-free phase will fall on the date that i dont want to menstruate. How can I postpone my menstruation for a few days?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
No pregnancy is not possible if Althea pill are taken regularly as prescribed.

If you are not taking althea pill on 1st day of menstrual bleeding. Then you could start from 2-5 days & you should use condoms for first 7 days. Having unprotected intercourse on 8th day would not cause pregnancy in that case.
If you donot want your period to come on the pill free period. You could continuing taking more pills (once daily) till you want your period. In this way you would be able to delay your period too. Start next cycle as told by your doctor.
