Is Plunger Essential To Remove Lenses Post Bilateral Blepharoplasty?

I have worn hard lenses for 43 years. I have scheduled a bilateral blepharplasty (upper and lower) and a bilateral cathoplasty next month. My octoplastic surgeon has advised that I must use a plunger to remove my lenses in the future. Is there any reason why I could not be fitted for soft lenses and avoid a plunger. Thanks!
