Is Persistent Anal Bleeding A Cause For Concern?

I ve been having anal bleeding for the past three days. I ve had anal bleeding before but this is different it s been three days and it s a lot of blood even my underwear are full of blood. Should I be that concerned with this? I ve recently had a colonoscopy in August and everything was fine.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Colonic cancer generally take a long time to grow, this is the reason that colonoscopy is not repeated for 8 to 10 years unless there is a family history of cancer or there are dangerous changes seen.

Since you have a colonoscopy a few months ago, it is very unlikely that there should be any chance of a mass or lesion present.

If there was a history of diverticular disease seen with the scope then this could be the cause.
Diverticular disease refers to the presence of outpockets in the colon.

Other causes would be infection, anal fissure, hemorrhoids.

I hope this helps
