Is Partial Hysterectomy Advisable For Irregular Periods While Having Fibroids?

I have had 2 myomectomy surgeries. Really didn t want to have a third. As a result of this issue, I have also have a blood transfusion. My obgyn suggested a partial hysterctomy because of the problems with my cycle. Fibroids are inside of my uterus. Some months my cycle is good and other months overwhelming. I am 44yrs old and still very active with my husband but I fear that having a partial with have an affect on our sex life.

Hi,

That is the most common treatment for it. It will really lower fertility. There are quite a lot of variations on this such as injection of drugs or clotting agents that kill off part of the uterus. And...the partial will most likely NOT affect the sex life. If fibroids cause pain, then it probably will improve it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
