Is Pain In The Ankle Post An Injury A Concern?

This afternoon my ankle bent sideways, and I heard a pop. Initially it didn t hurt much so I continued raking but almost immediately felt faint. I am having a hard time putting weight on it and have been doing the RICE treatment. Is it necessary to go see a doctor? I m pretty sure nothing is broken. I m in very good health and rarely have the need to go to the doctor. Thank you. Janet

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a contusion. Fracture is unlikely.

Consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated.

You can also apply icepacks for faster recovery.

If symptoms persists better to consult an orthopedician and plan for an X-ray foot.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
