Is Pain In Right Side Of Neck Due To Cyst In The Hyoid Bone?

i am very worried about my neck have a cyst in the middle of hyoid bone passed a thyroid ultrasound about 2 years ago and the ent told me not to worry. but today i am. On monday took leaves off the ground with a sweater and neck uncovered and caught a sore throat and pain on right side of neck and since then i don t know whats happening.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain in right side of neck due to cyst in the hyoid bone . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like tonsillitis , strep throat , viral pharyngitis or thyroglossal cyst . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist again for proper examination . Doctor may order , ultrasound , CT scan , MRI and laryngoscopy will also help to rule ot other conditions . Doctor may recommend Complete resection of the cyst and duct up to the foramen caecum , perform Sistrunk procedure which include includes resection of the middle third of the hyoid bone . Doctor may also prescribe anti bacterial or anti viral in case of strep throat or viral pharyngitis .
