Is Organic Coconut Oil Safe To Be Used On Eyelids For Eczema?

I HAVE ECZEMA ON MY EYELIDS. I RECENTLY VISITED THE NATURE FOOD STORE AND THEY RECOMMENDED ORGANIC COCONUT OIL TO USE. THIS HAS WORKED. THE ITCHING HAS SUBSIDED AND THE EYELIDS ARE NOT AS FLAKY. IS THIS SAFE TO USE AND WILL NOT DAMAGE MY EYES? THANK YOU.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Eczema is a type of dermatitis wherein there is dryness of skin and increased itchiness.
Emollients will decrease the itchiness and dryness over the skin and thus have a soothing effect.
Coconut oil is acting as an emollient and thus can be used.
As long as the oil is being used externally and not entering the eyes, it can be safely used over the eye lids along with other drugs.

Thanks and take care
Dr Shailja Puri
