Is Oral Progesterone Advisable To Increase Progesterone Level?

I have had multiple failed IVF cycles and all times, except for one, my progesterone level was below 1.0. the one time I had a positive pregnancy test, my level was 12.30. I took the progesterone cream and injections and neither increased my level. Would I benefit from oral progesterone instead?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Progesterone is an important hormone which would be generally substituted post-IVF, which will help to continue pregnancy by helping it to progress after implantation.
Hence, it is substituted by injections and oral/per vaginal intake. It would be better to insert it per-vaginally as intake of hormonal preparations like progesterone orally could cause severe gastritis and gastric intolerance.
Absorption is better with injections and mucosal absorption per-vaginal route.
Kindly follow the instructions as given by your treating doctor.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
