Is Monocef Recommended To A 5 Year Old For Fever Which Is Not Reducing?

My 5yr old daughter is down with fever since 23rd. Temp has shot upto 102. On 25th we hv got d urjne n blood tests done. They were fine. The temp is not going. We have been giving her meftal p after 5-8 hrs depending on the fever. On 26th d temp was less but by night it has risen to 101 again. Should we start giving antibiotics such as monocef?

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Paracetamol 15 mg/kg body weight every 4-6 hourly depending on the severity of fever will help reducing temperature.
Tepid sponging as and when necessary will help.
Usually fever subsides if it is viral fever.
Otherwise before stating antibiotic better consult your doctor to arrive at a correct diagnosis.
