sir,

I have high blood pressure problem with high sugar (274 after food and 155 before food)when i have consulted a doctor then he asked me to go for echo test (2D-ECHO with colour doppler). In my report [ AO(ed) --3.6cm , LA(es) 3.9 cm , RVID(ed) LVID(ed) 4.8cm , LVID(es) 2.9 cm , IVS(ed/es) 1.4/1.7 cm , LVPW (ed/es) 0.9/1.4 cm ,EF 68% , %FD 38% ] everything is showing normal except [LEFT ATRIUM --MILDLY DILATED]. PLease suggest me whether it's big problem because in the same hospital when i asked to meet 2 doctors . One of them suggested (who was a physician) to go for a test CT corronary....but the heart specialist told me that u have no problem and he suggested me to go for some tablets OLVANCE , METDLAR, DEPLATT, Amhpnoeic...

Hi welcome to HCM.
Your 2 d echo looks normal overall.
Left atrium looks mildly dilated but it's secondary to high blood pressure.
Your cholesterol is very well controlled.
My advice to you is -
1. keep control over your blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Check your FBS, PP2BS AND HBA1c report every 3 monthly along with lipid profile.
2.you don't have need to worry at all about mild enlargement of left atrium. No Longterm hazards if u control everything now.
3 . Plz undergo trademill test to see how is your blood supply to heart.. If this test is good u don't need to go for CT angiography.
Thank you.
Have a nice day.
