Is Masturbation A Safe Practice?

Hello Doctor,

My religion says masturbation is a sin, whereas our Book says nothing about it (directly, anyway). I don't believe it is a sin (not a scientific term, I know) as I can easily control it, but being 17 I do have a lot of sexual energy that begs to be released every once in a while. I am also very physically active and I supplement for proper, healthy testosterone and hormone levels. I try to read as much as I can about science and religion. From the standpoint of science, I and others see nothing wrong with masturbation, whereas religion calls it "faling away from God's plan for sexuality" and an unhealthy habit. I do not agree as I have healthy and *sometimes* intimate relationships with girls, I am not a pervert, I am a virgin, and in general I know I am healthy.

what are your thoughts/facts about masturbation?

Hi,

I do understand your concerns regarding masturbation. Its is true that is is one topic where religion and science don't agree at all.

It is a normal physiological process. Once a person becomes sexually mature, semen production starts which is a continuous process. A person the either has sex, or masturbates and has night falls. None of it causes any kind of problems. Masturbation doesn't lead to any physical or mental health problems. It also doesn't cause any problem with sexual performance, and potency.

It is also not an unhealthy habit. In fact, masturbating privately and releasing your sexual urges is much safer than many other things tat we keep on listening now a days. You can masturbate any number of time you wish too. The safest way to fulfill your sexual desire is to masturbate and you can continue doing it.

Hope this information was helpful. Best wishes.
