Is Lifting Weight Advisable While Having Descending Aortic Aneurysm?
I have a descending aortic aneurysym. I am 71 years old. I have the aneurysym monitored yearly. I want to start an exercise program that would include lifting weights...not too heavy...Is this advisible. someone told me I shouldn t lift anything over 15 poinds. Please advise.

Hello, Welcome to HCM As you are 71 year old and have a descending aortic aneurysym,i would suggest you to avoid any kind of weight lifting. Because age is one of the risk factor for rupture of aneurysym,increasing age increases the risk of rupture and dissection You can do mild exercises but avoid weight lifting. Also do regular scans for monitoring of size of aneurysym. Hope you are happy with the answer. Thank you.
