Is Lifting Heavy Objects Advisable After Surgery For Inguinal Hernia?

HI I had a inguinal hernia surgery about 8 weeks ago. It as a fairly large tear, about 5 to be exact. My job requires extremely heavy lifting i.e. Jackhammering and such. Is it ok to get back into my routine or should I inform them that I need light duty work as to not risk re injury of my condition.

Hello,

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that heavy weight lifting is absolutely counter-indicated in your situation.
For this reason,I would recommend inform your chief that you need light duty work, in order to avoid possible hernia re occurrence or surgery complications.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
