I am a 47 year old patient (woman) that has had breast cancer for 12 years. The 1st Year (end of 2001) I had a Lumpectomy on my Right Breast & my Lymph Nodes were Clear. I went thru 4 treatments of Chemo (Adramyacin & Cyclophosphomide..sorry if spellings are incorrect)... followed up with about 33 treatments of Radiation on Right breast. Was on Tamoxifin for 2 to 3 years & was still O.K...NO Reoccurence, so I stopped Tamoxifin in 2005. In 2007 Oct. Breast Cancer spread to my Back & Hip Area Bones. In Nov 2007 I had 15 treatments Of Radiation on Bones greatly helped & also had (& still have) Zoladex Shots (since end of 2007) to Shut Down my Ovaries & Put me into Early Menapause. I also started at end of 2007 on Femara and was fortunate to get 5 years out of that drug before Cancer seemed to progress some. Then, in Jan of 2013 I was put on another drug to Replace Femara which was Fasadex or Fasloadex ( not pills but to shots that hemotology dept administered in each butt cheek). My Oncologist switched me over now to EXAMESTANE (25mg) because I was able to get only 1.5 years cancer suppression out of last ESTROGEN BLOCKING drug (Fasodex.) MY CONCERN IS MY PARTNERS EXPOSURE TO ME WHILE TAKING A NEW DRUG I AM STARTING, EXAMESTANE.. It says to avoid cross contamination until after 48 hours and EXAMESTANE is taken every 24 hours (of course). My questions ARE: How safe would it be to be in a hot tub or just kiss my partner after 24 hours BEFORE I TAKE MY NEXT DOSE... HOW MUCH IS HE AT RISK ? ( I dont want to have to skip a dose to have the 48 hour window for exposure to be O.K.) AND ALSO : WHY ARE THESE WARNINGS ON EXAMESTANE & not on FEMARA & FASADEX ?.. which I took as well in the past. Aren t THESE Estrogen Suppressing or Blocking Drugs very SIMILIAR? and LASTLY , What Could Occur from Cross Contamination to another person ... what Concerns should they have ? Michelle ..Cleveland OH
