Is Keflex Recommended For Scalp Sores?

Yes please, for years I have been fighting scalp sores that swell, itch, won t heal, hurt, bleed I finially got my dermatoligist to do a swab culture, after calling my problem folliculitis . Today the results show it s a staph infection, I have been suffering for years with this getting worse every year. I am worried this will never go away and get into my blood stream. Because some are a little deeper now. Should I be worried? I am supposed to start Keflex now hmm wondering if anything will help anymore. It s on my hands and one arm now seems to be spreading. Took them forever to really run a test. Feel hopeless

hi,
thank you for putting up your query on HCM.
as per your history, you have chronic recurrent folliculitis.
my treatment advise would be:
-- you may continue taking tab keflex, as it will act against staphylococcus.
-- ask your dermatologist to change your antibiotic, if it is not responding.
-- also, you may apply topical mupirocin cream over the lesions as well as nostrils. as staph is a commensal in nostril.
-- maintain hygiene.
wishing you good health.
thank you
