Is Itchy Flare Up On Lip A Sign Of Dermatitis?

Hello!

I get an itchy red flare up on my lip line about once a month... It is not a blister, so I do not believe it is herpes. It has a white middle, but I know pimples don't itch. Ther dermatologist said it was dermatitis, but I do not believe that is what it is.

Thanks,
Michelle

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin. There are different types and also a range of possible causes.

Based on your description (red, itching), then it does sound as though the area is inflamed which would fit into the diagnosis of dermatitis.

If you can determine the cause then you may be able to decrease the frequency of the episodes.

I hope this helps
