Is It Usual To Get A Bruise After Blood Is Drawn?

I got my blood drawn today at the doctor and now my arm hurts when I bend it and it feels like I'm not getting any circulation and it burns where they put the needle in and a bruise is forming. Did the needle break off in my vein or did the nurse blow my vein?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain there is a possibility that the vein has got perforated while drawing of blood and there can be spillage of blood in the soft tissues from the site of putting the needle in.
There can also be traumatic injury to soft tissues causing inflammation and burning..
Nothing to worry do cool compresses over the bruised site and take Ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation..
Gradually the bruise and burning will subside, but in case of no improvement in 1 week or the bruise keeps on increasing consult your physician and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
