Is It Unusual To Develop Allergies At The Age Of 65?

I am 65 years old, a female. I have just been diagnosed with allergy to gluten, dairy, and eggs. My life has changed. It has been difficult. My question is....is it unusual to develop allergies of this sort at this age. Is it something that will last forever or may get better?

HI
Welcome to H C M.
Allergy to Gluten(Celiac Cisease) increases with age.
It is five times more common at this age.
Some persons who were not Allergic to Gluten before 50yrs develop Allergy to gluten at this age.
To confirm Diagnosis your Doctor may take a Biopsy from intestine.
It is seen that the person whose biopsy was negative at 50 yes age become positive at 65 yrs of age.
you can take canned vegetables these are economical.
Bone Fractures are very common in these persons due to Osteoporosis.
To avoid fracture, Calcium & Vitamin D is advised to protect Osteoporosis.
Previously Influenza Vaccines were not given to persons Allergy to Egg but now these persons are Vaccinated against Influenza.
Consult your Physician & Dietician .
Thanks.
