Is It To Be Concern About Abnormal Liver Function?

I am incredibly worried since blood tests that were taken following a kidney infection revealed abnormal liver function. I was subsequently referred to hospital for an ultrasound which showed a small solitary, well-defined mass in my liver and I now have to for a CT scan. I am terrified that this is cancer. My hospital report says ESR 38, CRP 118. It does not mention that the mass looks cancerous but says that it is does not appear to be typical of a haemangioma, cyst or abscess. The pancreas, gall bladder, bile duct, kidneys, spleen and aorta appear normal. The GP says that she just does not know what it is.

Hello, thanks for using Health care magic. I had gone through all the details posted.

Reports shows that CRP is very much elevated and you were saying mass in liver but specific characteristics of mass lesion was not done so I can comment whether that is of benign or malignant one.

Triple phase helical CT Abdomen is the investigation which can differential benign from malignant lesions.
serum AFP levels may help.

common risk factors for liver cancer are
cirrhosis, Hep B, Hep C.

Hope this helps...
