Hello and thank you for the question!
if you have any body art, it is always a good idea to know how to treat an infected tattoo.Treating an infected tattoo is not as difficult as it might sound.
1.The first thing you should do if you think your tattoo is infected is consult a doctor. You can also consult the artist that did the tattoo, but remember that tattoo artists are not medical professionals. While your tattoo artist may be able to easily tell what an infected tattoo looks like, know that they are not medically trained, usually, so it would be best to make an appointment with your doctor or visit your nearest emergency room.
2.Usually, a doctor will prescribe or suggest topical ointments like A&D ointment, Hydrocortisone cream or an over the counter antibiotic ointment. Only use these ointments if you know the tattoo to be infected. Over use of them can result in irritated skin which can possibly lead to infection.
3.Keep the tattoo dry at all times. A moist tattoo is the easiest to become infected, especially when it is new. Making sure that it is dry is a great way to prevent infection.
Best regards!
