Is It Safe To Use Nasal Spray Containing Corticosteroids Instead Of Inhaler For Cough?

Hi there, I suspect that I may be a Cough Variant Asthmatic. I have dry cough only for about four years and recently suffered form Eustachian Tube Dysfunction for two months.I m using budesonide nasal sprays at the moment for a week and it has obvious helped the symptoms, that further confirmed my suspect..My inquiries are --- in the future may I keep on using similar nasal spray which contains corticosteroids as a preventer for my persistent cough instead of inhaler? Thanks!

Dear-thanks for using our service and understand your concern. If you have cough variant asthma, you should use corticosteroids inhaler and albuterol inhaler for the cough. If your cough is secondary to chronic sinusitis, then a nasal corticosteroid inhaler is advisable. Remembeer that asthma is an irritation of the bronchii and the oral inhaler will help more than a nasal inhaler. However, in cases of Eustachian tube dysfunction, a nasal inhaler will help. Sometimes we need to recommend to alternate with both.
