Is It Safe To Use Metrogyl-P For Deep Cut And Swelling Of Lips?

Hello. My one yr old daughter had a fall yesterday. Her lower lip(inside) got deep cut due to sharp upper teeth because of the fall. Blood loss and swelling. Today morning swelling is still there and cut looked white. Doctor prescribed METROGYL-P. But I could only find METROGYL-P plus or METROGYL DG gel in medical stores. I see the compositions are different.Please advise.If I use this gel on inside of her lower lip, what precautions and care I should take?

Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....

As per your complain you can take Metrogyl DG gel from pharmacy and apply a thin layer over the inner lip of your infant and should apply only twice a day..
You should also do cool compresses over the inner side of lip for reducing inflammation and pain..
If there is pain tylenol can also be given..
In case if there is any abnormal effect you see after application of metronidazole gel due to swallowing immediately stop application and consult your doctor..
As the blood supply of the oral cavity is profuse the healing will take place soon even if antibiotic gel is not applied..
