Is It Safe To Undergo Tonsillectomy And Adenoidectomy Together?
Hi. My son is 5-1/2 years old. The Dr. has advised for him to undergo a T&A next week. Unsure if he has to undergo only adenoidectomy or both tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy as I have heard that future risks are there with tonsillectomy. Please give me a solution.

Tonsils and adenoids when they become enlarged will cause obstruction to swallowing as well as breathing. Especially in children, it makes things very difficult.
As your doctor has advised, if he is evaluated properly, you can go ahead for both tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy together, as anatomically also, they are in the close vicinity.
Again to undergo such operation might be difficult.
Kindly go ahead with both tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy at one go.
