Is It Safe To Take Glycomet 500 Sr And 50 50 Insulin For Liver Transplant Patient?

hi are you there?

my dad is asked to take glycomet 500 sr from yesterday. he has high blood sugar. he had his liver transplanted a year ago. these days his sugar level is increasing. he also takes a 50 -50 insulin. is it okay if he take glycomet? are there any risks? how long do you think he should take it ?

Yes, it is safe to use the glycomet along with the insulin. This is one of the first line medications for diabetes.

It helps to reduce the body's resistance to insulin and would not cause low blood sugars.
He may need to continue it long term, it can be used safely in this way.

In some persons it can cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, bloating, constipation or diarrhoea but some may have no problems.
If this occurs, using the slow release type of glycomet.
