Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i just received my first prescription of Xifaxan 550mg today. I am anxious to start taking it but am a little concerned because I am going on vacation the next 2 weeks. I have enough neomycin ( been taking it for HE) to last until I get back in town. Just curious, should I wait till I come back to take the Xifaxan . Would hate to be out of town if I didn t tolerate the Meds well
There are no major drug interactions between Xifaxan and Neomycin. Hence both the drugs can be taken together. In case you are taking Xifaxan for the first time, any allergy to the drug is still unknown. Hence you should watch for any side effects during the first few days of drug use. After ruling out allergies, you can use both the drugs together.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
