Is It Safe To Take Vagifem Prior To Surgery For Uterine Polyp Removal?

My doctor prescribed Vagifem 10 a month prior to surgery for a uterine polyp. Based on my research hormone replacement therapy should not be used if someone has a suspicious tumour or polyp. In addition I have just been diagnosed with gall stones. I am nervous about taking Vagifem but will proceed if it will help in some way with the actual surgical procedure of removing the polyp. Could you clarify?

Hello,

In my opinion, it's better not to use vagifem even if it is low dose like 10mcg. Actually your doctor prescribed vagifem to reduce the size and vascularity of uterine polyp to make the surgical removal easier. But, as you have gall bladder disease and there is a chance of endometrial cancer with vagifem alone, I recommend you to avoid taking the tablet. Please inform your doctor that you don't want to take vagifem.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
