Is It Safe To Take Tramadol For Kidney Pain While Being Positive For Leukocytes?

Hi I recently went to my PCP with CC of kidney pain. Im currently on Tramadol 50mg BID and valuim 2mg PRN. In office they did a rapid screen for lukocytes which came back positive and then a rapid slivia drug screen which came back negitive. I was sent to a lab to do further blood work and another urine test. I get a bill from the lab for a drug screen for every street drug under the sun and 2 opioid blockers. What is the relevance?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Tramadol is prescribed for kidney pain and possibly in severe pain from kidney stones. You should follow up with your nephrologist to get cured the cause of pain in order that you can stop the opioids.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
