Is It Safe To Take Susten During Early Pregnancy?

My wife is in early stage of pregnency. Doctor has advised her to take susten sr 300 tab at night every day though she has no history of spottin. Even the doctor has not prescribed for progesteron test and as such there is no documented evidence of deficiency of progesteron. Whether taking such drug is dangerous for the health of my wife as well as my stillborn ? Plzzz adivce as quickly as possible.

thank you for asking your concern and welcome to hcm. progesteron is generally advised if the history of any early trimester miscarriage there, mother is more than 30 years of age, any risk of abortion, any spotting going on, threatened abortion if any of the above is present then progesteron can be tried. still use of progesteron in prevention of pregnancy is not well established. people can try this if one or two miscarriages are present and no cause is identifiable. if any of the risk factor is absent then i would suggest not to take progesteron. vague side effect can occur due to hormonal imbalance which may be minor or major. in late trimester it has little to no role so point in giving that time also.
