Is It Safe To Take Risperdal While Suffering From Dementia And High BP?

My 87 year old father was perscribed Risperdal to treat a psychotic episode. He has high blood pressure and early stages of dementia. We are concerned because some information states there is a risk of mortality with dementia patients. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Hi,

Risperdal has got many side effects like any other psychiatric medicines. However, dementia is not a contraindication for Risperdal and you can use Risperdal in patients with dementia.
