Is It Safe To Take Pur Bloka While Having Hypoglycemia?
hi im 27 and underweight; i was recently diagnosed with mild mitrav valve regurgitation and my dr put me on pur bloka 20mg twice daily to help with my heart rate. ive heard that some side effects of pur bloka include weight gain. can they help me? I also happen to have bouts of hypoglycemia, but im not on any medication for that
It is not advisable to take Pur-bloka while having hypoglycemia. Pur-bloka is a non-selective beta blocker used in the treatment of hypertension, angina, and other heart conditions.
Its common side effects include decreased heart beats, decrease blood pressure, cold hands and feet, and hypoglycemia.
Pur-bloka induced hypoglycemia is more common in patients with prolonged fasting, chronic liver disease, and patients on patients on concomitant anti-diabetic medicines.
Moreover Pur-bloka can mask the warning signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia hence it is not safe to take it while having hypoglycemia.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
