General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear thanks for the question.

I would like to tell you that your disease seems to be related to increase acidity in stomach which is coming up to oesophagus. Mucinex is medicine for cough. As per my clinical knowledge you have acid reflux in oesophagus (GERD). To my patients with such problem I advise following
1 an antacid tablet (omeperzole 20mg, ranitidine 150mg)
2 antacid gel (digene)
3 to sleep in reclining position (put extra pillows)
I prescribe this treatment for two weeks.

If still problem persists I advise my patients to under go endoscopic examination of oesophagus and stomach to be done by gastroenterologist.

I hope my reply will be helpful to you. Do write for follow up queries. I wish you good health. Please rate my reply. Thank you.
