Is It Safe To Take Metoprolol And Methotrexate For Pulmonic Regurgitation?

I am 54 year old female with RA and Crohn s and have just this year been diagnosed with PVC s. Have previously been diagnosed with MVP. After reading my echo reports, I discovered that I have some mitral valve regurgitation, mild tricuspid (RVSP=11) regurgitation and there is pulmonic regurgitation. The PVC s can sometimes (to me) seem severe, occuring every 3rd or so heart beat for hours. Cardiologist nurse said this is benign. Should I be concerned about this? Am currently on Metoprolol succ er 25 mg (i take 1/2 tablet a day). Am also on methotrexate and have IV remicaid every 8 weeks.

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. You should be worried but not too much. I advise my patients to go on lifestyle modifications: eliminate common PVC triggers — such as caffeine. Beta blockers — Metorolol can suppress premature contractions. But don't stop taking medications without your doctor, because arrhythmia can occur again. Metorolol and Metotrexate are absolutely safe for regurgitation.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
