Is It Safe To Take Metformin In Large Dose For Diabetes?
my father has just been diagnosed with Diabetes yesterday and has been placed on Metfromin 500mg PO BID. I am still in deniel. About two years ago he was diagnosed with high cholesteral and is presently on Crestor. The doctor had also placed him on Atacant to preserve the kidneys. Could it be possible that either of these meds have increased his BS? I was also wondering why did his MD npt place him on a smaller dose of Metformin?
dear sir I understand your concern. in my opinion the dose your dad is taking is not at all a big dose.the full dose of metformin is 2500 to 3000 mg so the doctor who prescribed did good thing.as a Diabetologist I will also do the same thing.advise him to do diet and exercise.there is no relation between his tablets and diabetes.
