Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern for the prescribed medications for
rheumatoid arthritis.
Incomplete data like details of the lab tests done, gender, duration of your problem.
Folitrax is one of the most effective and safe drugs used in the treatment of Rheumatoid arthritis and it is given once a week.
The most common side effects associated with the use of Folitrax include:
ulcers in oral cavity, inflammation of the liver and kidneys, increased risk of infection, sleep disturbances,
diarrhea, and anemia.
These side effects are related to inhibition of
Folic acid by Folitrax, hence I would suggest you to take Folvite (Folic acid) tablet which can prevent these side effects.
For females, Folitrax is not safe during
pregnancy hence CONTRAINDICATED.
Steroids are usually found be to beneficial during the acute flare up of the disease and because of the safety concerns they are not used for maintenance therapy.
Hope this answers your query.
A feed back is appreciated.
