Hello dear,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Healthcare Magic. I went through your query and I understand your concerns.

Actually Fluconazole is an antimycotic agent, which your doctor prescribed for your vaginal yeast infection. It doesn't have neither any benefit or interaction with the drugs of treatment of trichomonas. Fluconazole is a drug which prevents the formation of ergosterol, which is a component of fungal cell wall, and not found in trichomonas, so it doesn't have any effect on treating it.
Regarding trichomonas, it is usually treated quickly and easily with antibiotics. The first line antibiotic of choice for trichomoniasis is metronidazole which, if taken correctly, is very effective. You will usually have to take metronidazole twice a day, for five to seven days. I would recommend also your partner to be treated, since trichomoniasis is considered STD(sexually transmitted disease).

Hope I answered to your question. For further concerns or follow up questions feel free to ask again.

Take Care,
Dr. Ina
