Is It Safe To Take Doxycycline For Chlamydia?

On January 28th I tested positive for Chlaymida. My doctor prescribed me a one time dosage of azithromycin. I took it as prescribed and returned to the doctor on February 11th. Even though I did not have sex again at all, and took the medicine exactly as prescribed, I tested positive again for Chlaymida. Now I am taking Doxycycline for the infection. I am concerned that this will not work as well, even though I am not engaging in sexual activity and I am taking it according to the directions. Are there cases where chlaymida can t be cured? What happens if this treatment fails?

Hello my friend
Thanks for your question on HCM

The treatment of chlamydia is straightforward; current recommended regimens are:

1. Doxycycline 100 mg twice-daily for seven days.
2.A single dose of 1 g of azithromycin - best for compliance but more expensive than doxycycline.

It is consider recurrence and repeat testing on you that remain symptomatic
Antibiotic treatment is effective in at least 95% of cases if the full course is taken. When you will finish doxycycline see again your doctor.

Hope this information is helpful
Best regards
