Is It Safe To Take Deriphyline For Breathing Issues?

Hi, My name is Beena, aged 45yrs. I am taking foracort 200mg rotocaps for the last 5 yrs but with no significant improvement in my problem. I suffer breathing problem when i take some eatables like jack fruit, spicy or fast food, colored foods etc. I go on for morning walks at least for one hour early morning and have no problem after coming back. Now a doctor told me that i must not take foracort 200 mg rotocaps for a long time as it contains steroid, instead to take Deriphyline retard 150mg tab and gradually stop taking rotocaps. I started breathing problem in the mid twenties after i settled in Kerala (humid climate) from Madhya Pradesh (dry climate) where i was born and bought up till early twenties. Looking forward to your valuable advice. Thanks and Regards. Beena.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you are not on right tract. Consult good pulmonologist and get done Pulmonary Function Test(PFT). This will not only diagnose your breathing problem but will also tell about the severity. And Rotacaps are more safer than tablet deriphyllin. Inhaled treatment is far far better than oral treatment and it is already suggested in all guidelines. So if you are doing well on rotacaps than no need to switch on tablet deriphyllin. So consult good pulmonologist and discuss your problem.
