Is It Safe To Take Cypon Syrup For Weight Gain?

Hello Sir, My age is 29 and I am underweight (54 kg). I am taking Cypon Syrup for past 1 month. But I have heared that it is a very dangerous medicine having many side effects. Please guide me whether I should stop this medicine or use substitute of it. I want to gain my weight.

I appreciate your concern for the safety of Cypon syrup for weight gain.

It is not safe to take Cypon syrup for weight gain because of its side effects like extreme drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, faster heart beats, retention of the urine etc.

I would rather advice you to do regular exercise, take a healthy balanced diet rich in high class proteins (meat, poultry, fish, milk, etc), eat dry fruits along with fresh fruits. etc.

Use of medications just to increase the weight is not approved.

Welcome to HCM,
I read your query and i appreciate your concern regarding this issue.

Cypon syrup has cyproheptadine in it which is anti histaminic but also used as appetite stimulant also.
High doses can cause side effects,The main side effect of cypon is drowsiness but has other side effects like
Blurred vision,dizziness,excitability,dry mouth,restlessness etc. However if continued over a period of time tolerance develops to these effects.
I would not advise to drive or do any activities which require much attention when you take Cypon.
You can take this syrup in dose of 1 Tsf in morning and 2 Tsf in night.( teaspoon full).
In case of any side effect please visit hospital.
