Is It Safe To Take Benadryl To Treat Allergic Reaction Caused By Taking Ciprofloxacin?

I ve been taking ciprofloxacin 500 x2dy but only took 2 today and one on Sat. & Sun. Yesterday I started to get numbness in my fingertips and toes, today I started to get swelling in my feet and legs, face and tongue. My eye swelled up tonight while I was watching TV. I called my Dr. and told her and she said take Benadryl and get a good nights sleep. I just took the Benadryl but when I realized it said for Allergies. Is this good enough to help me with the allergic reaction to the antibiotic

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that the symptoms that you are experiencing of swelling in feet, legs, face and tongue along with swollen eyes are most probably allergic reaction to Ciprofloxacin that is an antibiotic and such symptoms can be seen as side effects of antibiotics..

As Benadryl is an anti histamine or in general terms an anti allergic you can very well take it for reducing the allergy symptoms..

It can very well relieve the symptoms of allergy caused by antibiotics or other Medication..
Along with taking Benadryl you should also stop taking Ciprofloxacin and it should be replaced with other antibiotics that does not belong to the group of antibiotics known as Fluoroquinolone to which Ciprofloxacin belong.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
