My wife is 51 years old, been on 25 mg librium once dailyfor 19+ years. With help from her primary doctor, she wanted to get off of it. She dropped down to 20 mg once daily and instantly stopped sleeping more than 1 hr poer night. She went back up to the original dose of 25mg with no more than 2 hrs sleep nightly in 8 months. Since Jan. 14 she has had increasing anxiety and depression. She has received inpatient mental health treatment at two different facilities in last 6 weeks, and given many, many different meds with no effect on insomnia or anxiety. She has also had multiple ER visits, counselors, pastors, and freinds. !She has no daily functions other than eating and feeling hopeless and helplless. Her anxiety starts at apporox. 9.00 am and lasts untill 8:00 pm if untreated. She has been given ativan 1.0 mg to help episodes and it always works, but she is terrified to become addicted to the ativan. Help us please. Could this be the librium?
