Is It Safe To Take Allegra When Diagnosed With Dengue?

My grand son of about 10 years old has been detected with dengue desease yesterday. He was suffering from throat infection also for last about 10 days. Doctor has prescribed ALEGRA 120 for throat infection. Now since Dengue has been detected whether he should be given Alegra 120 or not. or whether Alegra 120 will be harmful in Dengue . S L Bhagat

I can understand your concern.

Basically used in the symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions and common cold Allegra (Fexofenadine) can be given safely if your grand son is diagnosed to be suffering from Dengue fever.
He should be treated for the Dengue fever, there is no harm in giving Allegra to control his symptoms.
