Is It Safe To Have Prednisone And Erythromycin Despite Having Sulfa Based Allergies?

Hi I have sulfa based allergies, have been prescribed ibuprofen to substitute paracetemol, I am on peridnisone, erythomycin. I allergic reactions are severe with several cases of anaphylaxis in my history. I carry an epipen. I would to have a second opinion as I have the medical facility of my history and known allergies. Should I proceed in taking these drugs? I have experienced a fall and have injured my leg with severe swelling and pain, hence why I am being prescribed pain killers and antibiotics. My concern is will the combination of these drugs affect my allergies, I have not taken ibuprofen in the past to my knowledge, and knowing my history would like to proceed caustiously. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
I have seen so many patients with having allergy to so many drugs , so this is a very good thing that , you know very .
So whenever consult a doctor , please tell the doctor about allergies to sulpha drugs and so many others.
Prednisolone is a steroid and in most of cases don't produce any allergy , so safely ,you can take it but start with minimum dose i.e. 5 mg once in day and then increase doses.
Similarly erythromycin is least allergy producing drug , so similarly take 250 mg once in day and increase the dose .
Ibuprofen causes allergy while paraceatmol is least reacting drug .
In my opinion , erythromycin and prednisolone may be sufficient for you .
So if not necessary , don't take ibuprofen , but if necessary take this drug in the presence of your treating physician ( once i.e. first time ).
Good luck.
