Is It Safe To Gain Weight After Undergoing Indirect Inguinal Hernia Surgery?

Hi Dr. Prasad
I underwent a Indirect Inguinal Hernia Surgery (Hernioplasty) two month back. I am 5'10 & 61 kg i lost 3 to 4 kg, makes me look skinny.
I wanted to know how safe it is to gain wait after hernia surgery?

I am more worried about it because my surgeon told me that he never saw this type of Hernia (dirty as well) and it will be unrepairable if comes again. I was hit by a bike which caused me this.

I understand that you had a difficult surgery and have are recovering after some ill health and losing weight. Our body is made of protein and hence for proper recovery and weight gain you need more of protein rich food. Meat, eggs and fish contain protein and need to be consumed in bulk. It is safe to be taken after such a surgery and you need not worry about that. Please avoid strenuous exercise but light exercise is fine and essential.
You need not wait and can start the proteinaceous diet immediately. About strenuous exercise, it is preferable to wait for a couple of months.
