Is It Safe For Me To Drink Beer While I Am Prescribed Flagyl 500mg?
Hi. I was prescribed 500mg Flagyl because my OBGYN believed I had BV. However, the results came back negative so I only took the medication twice the first day as directed, and once in the morning the second day; I then received the results and discontinued use. The last time I took a dose was 24 hours ago, and because I only took it for a day and a half will it leave my system quicker? I am wondering if it would be okay to drink a beer.
Classically, Flagyl is said to interact with alcohol to make the alcohol far more likely to cause flushingnausea and vomiting.
And yes. flagyl stays in the system about 12 hrs..maybe slightly longer if the level has built up over 3 or more days.
24 hrs is just at the point where it is likely out. 48 hrs is getting close to guaranteed.
In any case, the expectation and fear of a reaction is far more likely a cause than the medication by 24 hrs.cannot say in your particular case, but generally, and some people don't get drugs out of their system, some people are overly sensitive, some people are small and the concentration of the drug is higher because going into a small container.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
