Is It Possible To Get Infected With Shingles As A Result Of Cataract Surgeries?
I am 73 yrs old and In good health. In August I had cataract surgery. In September I had the other eye done. Both times, about 10-12 days after the surgeries, I came down with a rash which they suspected was due to some type of reaction After being put on steriod packs and topical cream, the rash never completely disappeared. After this last flare-up I was finally diagnosed with shingles. Any chance I contacted it at the surgical center?
No, it is a far way chance to get it in the surgical theatre, as it is sterilized very well, you can catch this infection from anyone around you who were infected by chickenpox.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
