Is It Possible For Prescription Medications To Be Transmitted Through Intercourse?

Is it possible for prescription medications to be excreted in semen and the partner suffer effects from that? If so, how soon after sex would the effects appear? Mainly asking about blood pressure medications; partner is having dizziness and headache, just started about an hour after sexual episode.

Hi,

Medications and other drugs that men consume do appear in their semen to some degree, just as they tend to appear in other bodily fluids. However, keep in mind that the amount of ejaculate typically produced is quite small and, on average, consists of about one or two teaspoons.

Thus, even though medications might be present in semen, this fluid is released in such small quantities that any potential chemical transfer through it would be very, very small.

Medications absorption through vagina is least that's why some times we advise drugs through PV. So few studies have shown that drugs transfer through semen even not harm the fetus if you already conceived. Don't worry your symptoms may be due to sex induced vertigo or BPPV.

Please consult your doctor/ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
